Scott's home congregation is Community Lutheran Church, Summerfield, NC.

We're Having a Barbeque!

September 17, 2011 from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM we will be serving Barbeque pork plates that include pork, bun, slaw, beans, hush puppies, tea and dessert for $8.00 per plate. Eat in or take out. We will also have smoked, whole Boston butts for sale at $25 each, smoked by BBQ Master, Ed Kilmon. Tickets for the plates will be on sale Sundays until september 4th, after Worship Service, in the Fellowship Hall. A sign up sheet for "Ed's Smoked Butts" is on the bulletin board.

Gentle Yoga Class

Every Tuesday and Thursday (excluding holidays) Marc Meyer holds a Yoga Class at Saint Luke in the Fellowship Hall. The classes are open to everyone and are an hour long. Cost is $5 per session per person. Invite your family and friends to join you in a quite hour. Marc donates 15% of his fees to Saint Luke.

New York, New York!

Do you "Love New York"? The Saint Luke Community has an opportunity to organize a trip to New York City. No date has been chosen yet, we're waiting to see if anyone would be interested. Logistics would probably entail driving or sharing a ride to Florence, SC, (parking is free) riding a bus overnight to the big City, on-your-own excursions, with requested travel agent assistance, and possible group-rate hotel accomodations. If you're interested, go to the New York table, March 13th in the Fellowship Hall after Sunday church service. There is no required number of travelers.

Columbarium Committee Work Day

Saturday, March 19th at 9:30 AM is the time for the annual Spring Work Day at the Columbarium. In case of rain on the 19th the Work Day will be Saturday, March 26th at 1:30 PM.
Please bring your rakes, brooms, gloves and other clean up items. If you have any questions or suggestions for improvements, please contact Preston Huffman, Columbarium Chairman at 910.579.3043.
All owners of a niche are Columbarium Committee Members and are asked to participate in keeping the area around the Columbarium neat.

AED/CPR Class

Automated External Defibrillator/Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Class will be offered on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Saint Luke in the Fellowship Hall. It will last about 2 1/2 hours. Cost is $5 per person, or free if you would like to only observe the class so you will be able to aid others when an emergency occurs. A sign up sheet is on the Medical Information Bulletin Board. Active particpants will receive a card in the mail after completion of the class stating that you are certified to use the AED machine.
Saint Luke is fortunate in having two AED machines; one in the Fellowship Hall and one in the Sanctuary.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday (except for holidays) at 10:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend. This is for beginners as well as those that have experience in yoga. The classes are an hour long and the fee is $5 per class per person. Marc Meyer is the instructor and donates 15% of the fees he receives to Saint Luke.

Ocean Ridge Singers Concert

The Ocean Ridge Singers will hold an encore performance of their Christmas Concert at Saint Luke on Sunday, December 12, 2010. The concert will be held in the Fellowship Hall at 3 PM. tickets can be picked up at the church office after November 1, 1010. There is no charge for the tickets but a ticket is necessary to insure seating. Admission to the concet is your contribution of non perishable food items, cash or check. The food and money collected will be equally divided between The Interchurch Council Food Pantry and The Brunswick Family Assistance Food Pantry. The concert will be a combination of sacred and secular Christmas music. The Ocean Ridge Singers' Concerts are a combination of fun and beautiful music. Come for an afternoon of great entertainment.

2011 Golf Tournament

Dianne Jewell and Lynn Harbold have volunteered to co-chair a committee to organize and hold a golf tournament next June. The first meeting of the committee will be held on November 18, 2010 at 1:00 PM. It is important that everyone interested in helping to make this tournament happen be at this meeting or contact Dianne or Lynn prior to the meeting. They will only proceed with the tournament if enough people commit to help with the tournament. Both golfers and non golfers are needed to do the tournament. We need a lot of personel to make this a success.

Our resident expert on Genealogy, Doug South, has agreed to host a two-hour introduction class to "Using new resources to find your roots". Doug has been an active participant in Horry County's Genealogy Group for over a year. He says the internet has opened doors to record searches that have previously been difficult or impossible to find. He will share his sources with anyone who is interested. To insure adequate copies of materials, please sign up with Donna (910-579-01070) in advance. The class will be held July 29, 2010, from 3:00 - 5:00 PM. If interests exists, follow-up work sessions can be scheduled.

Rite of Confirmation

May 16th is the date set for the Rite of Confirmation for our Confirmation Class of 2010. The class consists of Taylor Lynn Barrett, Melanie Ann Britten, Isaac William Hawkins, Edward Efird Julian, Jr., Brielle Marie Sanchez and Jacob Duncan Yount. These youth will have attended classes for 18 months. Please join them for a reception in the Fellowship Hall after worship service.

Heifer International Sunday

Saint Luke Lutheran Youth will bake cookies and have a Pizza Party on Saturday, May 1st starting at 10:00 AM. The Youth will be assisting in the Sunday Worship Service on May 2nd. They will host the fellowship table in the Fellowship Hall after the service and serve the cookies they made on Saturday. The offering that is given will go to purchase animals for underprivileged countries.
